For a decade the SSPCR International Conference has been shaping the future of urban and regional development. With the 2025 edition, the conference will bring together visionaries, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders to explore sustainable and digital transformations in cities and regions worldwide.

Urban areas face unprecedented challenges: from climate change, social justice, resource scarcity to digitalization and socio-economic transitions. SSPCR 2025 will be an international space to exchange ideas, showcase innovative projects, and bridge the gap between research and action.

This edition will focus on solutions that promote resilience, equity, and environmental responsibility, ensuring a smarter, greener, and more liveable future for all.

Set in the backdrop Bolzano, during SSPCR 2025 participants will experience its innovative flair, sustainable urban solutions and festive spirit. The conference will not only be a center of intellectual exchange, but also an immersive experience of sustainable urban living in action.

Join the conference

SSPCR 2025 welcomes contributions from various research fields: urban and regional planning, environmental and social sciences, economics, transportation, engineering and energy-related studies, computer science and geomantic as well as from the professional community.

You have four ways to participate:

  1. Organize a special session: propose a specific topic within a thematic track and become organizer and moderator of a dedicated special session. A session will be confirmed if at least 5 papers are presented.

    Submissions open until April 15th, 2025.

  2. Organize an event: does your project need to engage the public or stakeholders in discussion? You can organize an event such as a panel discussion, moderated debate, interactive workshop, world café, application testbed, gaming, etc.

  3. Abstract presentation: share your research or project results in a presentation within a specific thematic track. This option is great for those who have innovative ideas to discuss with others. You may also submit a paper for conference proceedings, which highly recommended.

  4. Display a poster: create a poster to showcase your research or project. This is ideal for early-stage research or if you want to present information at a glance. Your poster will be on display for the whole duration of SSPCR 2025. Submitting a paper for conference proceedings is optional.

Call for special session

Lead a Special Session in a Thematic Track and have your own space to explore your research topic. A session will be confirmed if at least 5 papers are presented, either suggested by you, as moderator, or selected by the scientific committee among the abstracts received.

Call for events

We are looking for proposals for events that create a lively space to share ideas, discuss key topics and engage the audience. You can use your event to showcase project results, spark debates, or lead hands-on workshops.

SSPCR is a conference organised by the Urban and Regional Energy Systems group of Eurac Research – Institute for Renewable Energy. The group focuses on sustainable energy planning, spatial decision support systems, big data frameworks, and economic evaluations to support the development of smart cities and regions through multidisciplinary research and international collaboration.
