For the 10th edition of the Smart and Sustainable Planning for Cities and Regions (SSPCR 2025) conference, which will be held next December in Bolzano, you can organize a Special Session.

The call for proposals is open until 15th April 2025, allowing you to serve as both the organizer and moderator of the session. All you need to do is propose a specific topic within one of these seven Thematic Tracks:

  1. Energy Transition: Towards Climate Neutral Cities
This track explores evaluation frameworks for supporting decision making in the urban energy transition and climate neutrality covering energy renovations, low-emission buildings, nearly Zero and Plus Energy Buildings, Plus Energy Districts, and climate-neutral city plans.

  2. Adapting Cities and Regions: Transformative Strategies for Adaptive Regeneration
This track examines innovative adaptation strategies to address the impacts of climate change in urban and metropolitan areas, focusing on nature-based solutions, urban design interventions and disaster risk reduction.

  3. Mobility systems:  Backbones for Smart and Sustainable Cities and Regions
This track examines how regional mobility can be enhanced through integrated transport networks, multimodal hubs, and smart infrastructure to boost connectivity across urban and rural areas, discussing the benefits of soft and electric mobility.

  4. The Just City: New Transformative Pathways on Governance and Practices
This track evaluates the role of governance structures and participatory planning in fostering inclusive decision-making and empowering marginalized communities. It explores how urban design can actively recognize and respond to diverse social needs.

  5. Urban Energy Market: Trends and Finance
This track investigates how local economies can support the transition to sustainable energy systems by examining the financial and macroeconomic benefits of urban energy projects.

  6. Closing the Loop: Circular Economy Strategies for Urban and Regional Systems
This track explores cutting-edge research and practical applications of circular economy principles in urban and regional contexts and discuss approaches, best-practices and tools that can drive systemic change towards green circular cities.

  7. Data and AI-Powered Territories: City Intelligence for Urban Planning and Management
This track explores how generative AI is shaping the future of cities focusing on innovative applications in urban analysis, synthetic data generation, scenario modeling, or governance processes and discuss ethical implications, biases, and challenges.

By submitting your proposal within one of these tracks, you will have the opportunity to have your own space to explore your research topic. A session will be confirmed if at least 5 papers are presented, either suggested by you as the moderator or selected by the Scientific Committee from the abstracts received.
