Josef Prackwieser studied Jewish History, History of Science, and Philosophy in Freiburg im Breisgau and at LMU in Munich with research stays in Rome, Jerusalem, and London. He has worked in documentation centres, publishing houses, and foundations. Since 2021, he has been employed at Eurac Research (Center for Autonomy Experience). His work focuses on South Tyrolean history, historical multilingualism, Jewish history, cultures of remembrance in South Tyrol and Europe as well as political education. He has organised numerous conferences and publications. Most recently, he co-edited and commented with Hannes Obermair the book by John S. Stephens “Danger Zones. An investigation into national minorities in Europe” (Bolzano 2024).
