Associate Professor
Maria Polese is Associate Professor of Structural Engineering at the Department of Structures for Engineering and Architecture of the University of Naples Federico II.
She is involved in several multidisciplinary research activities and projects (National and European) mainly focused on Seismic vulnerability and risk assessment (DPC-RELUIS Projects), exposure assessment (PI of EXPLORA project), risk/loss estimation methodologies (WP leader in EU project BORIS) and multi-risk and crisis management policies framework (EU projects CRISMA, ROADMAP, ROADMAP2, coordinator of EU project BORIS2). She leads WP2 - Multi-risk-oriented modeling of urban systems -within the spoke TS1 - Urban and Metropolitan Settlements - of the NEXTGEN-EU funded RETURN project.
She is author of more than 100 scientific papers published in journals or presented at conferences and national and international committees (h-index 21, documents 72, citation 1409, according to SCOPUS) and 7 book chapters also as outcomes of the many research activities carried out at national, European and international level. She also serves as editorial board member of the International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction.
