Professor

Professor Xiaoshu Lü leads the Renewable Energy and Built Environment team at the University of Vaasa and is an Adjunct Professor in AI Applications to Buildings at Aalto University in Finland. She earned her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Jilin University in China and Ph.D. from Helsinki University of Technology in Finland, followed by postdoctoral research at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. Her research focuses on low-energy and low-carbon strategies and technologies for the built environment, spanning building, district, and urban scales. Awarded the Napier Shaw Bronze Medal by the renowned British engineering organisation, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), her current research interests include hybrid renewables, energy storage, waste heat utilisation, and advanced AI and optimisation strategies, aimed at addressing the intermittency challenges of renewables and contributing to the decarbonisation of the built environment.
