Bridging the Gap Between Planning and Execution for Sustainable Neighborhoods
Cities must shift from centralised, polluting models to decentralised, resilient and flexible systems. While many projects support this transition, a critical gap remains between innovation and realworld implementation. These implementation challenges stem from multiple factors, including:
difficulties in creating actionable roadmaps
navigating complex, multistakeholder governance landscapes
establishing viable financing mechanisms
overcoming persistent regulatory barriers
POSEIDON and WeGenerate are two ongoing European projects tackling this challenge by making local energy initiatives, such as Positive Energy Districts and Energy Communities. To that end, comprehensive policy frameworks and practical measures specifically designed for municipal governments are being developed.
To foster dynamic and inclusive dialogue, we will use the World Café methodology. Participants will rotate among 3 themed discussion tables, each focusing on a key aspect of turning PEDs/ECs into everyday municipal practice.
In this joint workshop, project partners will bring together experts and practitioners to:
Share and reflect on the persistent gap between innovative energy designs and their tangible realisation in urban environments
Examine successful policy instruments and strategies deployed across European cities
Analyse recurrent implementation challenges
Explore adaptable models for diverse urban contexts
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have practical tools and methods to integrate and scale sustainable energy solutions.
